Crown of Breaking

This current WIP (work in progress) is an adult high fantasy adventure story. It deals with the importance of found family, toxic patriotism, and how complacency harms not only the greater good but self-worth as well. This will appeal to readers of fantasy similar to Cassandra Clare, Leigh Bardugo, and Naomi Novik. Title not final.

Crown of Breaking

A sapphic adult fantasy

Straylari is the High Princess of the Summer court with a problem. She can't do magic. She knows she could be a fair leader if given the chance, but no one can see past her lack of magecraft. Before the time to challenge her brother lapses, she must unlock her powers so the succession will transfer to her instead.

Anandara is an orphan acolyte in the temple of Edexis, the god of wisdom and learning. When the Seekers choose her to be an augur, she flees, knowing death is all that awaits if she stays. Hiding in the underbelly of Summer’s capital, Anya is captured by the Thief Queen and scrambles to make a double-edged deal to keep safe her strange and desirable magic and hide from the Seekers.

When Stray receives a mysterious key inscribed with her missing brother’s name from Khade, the ostracized prince of Winter, they uncover a sinister secret that threatens the foundation of the Summer lands. At the center of a brewing rebellion and on the precipice of the revival of ancient magic, Anya must fight for her freedom, and Stray must harness her abilities and balance her longing for a simpler past with her pursuit of truth, justice, and even love.

Spice Level:

Medium spice. This is a high fantasy adventure so it is heavier on the plot. There is still some spice, but it's not overly graphic and most is fade to black.
