A paranormal fantasy

and adventure novel

After a short, strange life, Janis Lyn Pereda wakes up dead but feeling alive and free for the first time in 15 years, much to her dismay.

A former reaper, who was exiled after disobeying a direct order and doomed to 500 years as a human in various bodies, is currently bound in the body of grumpy Jayan Mati and has many years left on his sentence.

The unlikely pair collide outside the Richmond, Virginia morgue and are both confronted with the realization that Janis was never human, but a rare type of changeling involved in a faerie deal turned sour and that, further still, someone is killing off reapers to keep a sinister secret intact.

Janis and Jay, along with a demigod of death, a forgetful psychic, and an occasionally friendly demon, unravel an iniquitous plot orchestrated by dark Fae forces in league with corrupt demons to contract out broken deals causing humans, and other creatures, to expire before their time. The twisting journey requires the troupe to travel across a tapestry of magical America and beyond, unraveling how deep the corruption is rooted, and how deep the loyalty of found family can run.

Coming September 10th, 2024!

Spice Level:

Spice Level

Easy on the spice. Heavy on the plot. One protagonist is a minor, so there's no spice there. Our reaper protagonist may have a thing for a demon, though...

Rynn Ely

Author of the Memories of Yesterday

“I absolutely loved reading this book! The language is just right, it's not too complicated or too simple. Conversations flow really well and, in my opinion, descriptions are well-balanced."

C. L. Brown

Author of the Winds of Fury Series

"Nikki M. Griggs came out of the gates swinging with her debut novel. I'm a fantasy lover who can admit that YA isn't my usual shtick. However, Janis and the Reaper has slid the genres into one of my faves."

Kourtney Spak

Developmental Fiction Editor

“This book is just good fun. If you're looking to find the vibes you got from the first few seasons of Supernatural and relive that nostalgic feeling, this one is definitely for you!”
